Hi! I'm August Wicker (they/he); you can also call me AC :]
I'm a non-binary artist and designer based in Metro Detroit.I’m a 2026 graduate of Oakland University (Rochester, MI), where I earned a B.A. in Graphic Design and a minor in Advertising. At OU, I served as the Managing Editor for the Oakland Post and as the Publicity Manager for the Golden Grizzlies Athletic Band.I’ve always loved bright colors and childlike imagery, and I often incorporate these elements into my work. I’m experienced with the Adobe Creative Suite and other programs, including Procreate, Figma, and Carrd. I spend most of my time creating—whether it’s design, illustration, jewelry, or more.

a life short lived among the fairies (2025-2026)

Leah Jean Anna Pomeroy (December 31, 2003 - December 5, 2024) spent her short 20 years filling the world with joy, laughter, color, and whimsy. Losing such a beautiful soul to something as awful as pediatric cancer has left me and everyone who knew Leah with indescribable grief, something that looks different for everyone.
Since black was not to be worn at her funeral (her wishes), I wanted to commemorate her as she lived, using the things she loved. Grief is a very personal yet universal experience, much like death. Using parts of Leah to keep her memory alive is so powerful. Letting others see what my friend meant to me is scary, but I love talking about her, and I hope others do, too.

My senior thesis involved me researching the relationship between art and death, existing death-centered design projects, and the impact of pediatric cancers on families. This was a very personal project, exploring my own feelings of grief and how I could turn that into something meaningful. Read my full thesis paper here.

moon brew (2026)

For my Design Illustration course (Winter 2026), our final assignment was to create an original coffee branding concept. I developed Moon Brew, an intergalactic café inspired by mid-century modern design and retrofuturism.

alien caps (2026)

For my Design Illustration course (Winter 2026), our first assignment was to design a pattern and matching illustration for tween stationery. After researching the interests of the age group, I decided to illustrate a bunch of cartoon aliens in fun, trendy hats.

the home bakery (2025)

In the Fall 2025 semester, I took Advertising Creative Strategy, a course in which we were divided into three groups and each group was tasked with completing a public relations overhaul for The Home Bakery (Rochester, MI). I worked on the website redesign and the visuals throughout the campaign and presentation, and the owner and other PR professionals present said they favored our work the most of all three groups. the oakland post (2025-2026)

My favorite newspaper center spreads I've done for the Oakland Post! I started as a Graphic Designer in January 2025 and was promoted to Managing Editor for the 2025-2026 school year. Each design is inspired by the story content and the author.

golden grizzlies athletic band (2024-2026)

Highlights of my Instagram work for the Grizz Band! I was the Publicity/Eqipment Manager from May 2024 to April 2026.

home is where you are (2025)

Oakland University's Graphic Design capstone project is to design a nonprofit campaign. When I took the class in Winter 2025, I chose the Ruth Ellis Center and created a campaign aiming to end housing insecurity among LGBTQ+ youth, titled Home is Where You Are. Here is my campaign book, highlighting research, visuals, and physical materials.

great lakes reptile (2024)

For my Fall 2024 UX/UI Design course, our final project was to completely revamp one of three websites chosen by our professor. I chose Great Lakes Reptile (Roseville, MI) and redesigned its logo, branding, and website from the ground up. I tweaked a few things after completing undergrad in 2026. Here is my Figma wireframe!
